The Star

Jazz riffs gently filled the air
Scent of roses everywhere
As she entered the room with confident flair
All eyes turned to see the lady so fair

She glides around the room
Nodding hello, small touches of her hands
So many drawn by her perfume
It was good to be with her fans

Mounting the stage, she was the star
A sax played, she sang
A voice as captivated as caviar
So good to be with her gang

So many years working hard
Endlessly up and down roads
Constantly on her guard
The little girl from the crossroads

Now she is the star with the voice
Nonstop playing to her fans
But always travelling in her Rolls Royce
And returning home to Cannes.
