The Fair

The fair has arrived
Such a wonder of colours
What a day to be alive
And to be together as lovers

Stalls, rides and games
Up and down our lanes
Drawing us like moths to flames
And our blood hot in our veins

Throw this, hit that, which first
So many choices, no time to discuss
And how we build up a thirst
But never never make a fuss

The weekend is over
The fair is leaving for another year
Time to rest and get sober
Till the fair again appears.
