Chicago Blues

Chicago blues was forged by steel
Mules and levees didn’t do it anymore
Industry turned he wheel
And the Blues opened the door

Country acoustic went electric
Urban sounds needed a voice
Throw in a “harp” and the result was hectic
And new blues devotees rejoiced

Maxwell Street market was an incubator
For the sound of urban blues
House parties and clubs came later
The street lite the fuse.
