The Candles

The candles were lit
The world was shut out
The fire invited us to sit
And it was time to cast aside doubt

The candles flickered and glowed
Shadows danced on walls and floors
Talk about everything and nothing flowed
While outside the wind roars

The candles slowly died
The evening was ending
Conversations stopped, we all sighed
But the moon was full and night had descended

The candles will again be lit
We will gather again
Before the fire we will sit
And drink, laugh and put aside pain.
