A Shropshire Afternoon

The countryside is at peace
The sun is shining on green pastures
Even the tractors are resting
As I stop and gaze in rapture

Nature is at her best
On this Shropshire summer afternoon
How do you describe such brilliance
Could it be captured in a joyful tune

So many country lanes
Surrounded by natures glories
Leading from village to village
If only they could tell us their stories

Stories of times long gone
When man and the land were one
And we appreciated the world around us
I do wonder if some progress could be undone?
