Flowing from street to canal
Rain found a way
To turn pleasure into pain
And ruin a cruising day
Hard work even why dry
That day was a test
Opening the Grindley Brook Staircase Locks
When no one was at their best
But canal users are a hardy bunch
Determination saw them through
To continue their voyage to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduc
While hoping and praying for a sky of blue.
