The Soul of the Night

In the cold embrace of night’s dark veil
The soul of the night weeps for my sad tale
Days stretch out endlessly
Weighted down with my sorrows that never end

The sun’s warm touch feels distant and cold
Every sunbeam makes my heart feel old
And the soul of the night just waits
To again wrap its darkness around me

Time slips through my fingers like sand
I am lost in hours that I don’t understand
And the soul of the night just waits
As the days are long and the nights are short.
