Oh, it’s the season of joy, of laughter and cheer
A turkey so big it could block out the sun
And far too much beer and wine
With mince pies by the dozen (I stopped after one)
The wine flows like rivers, the beer did too
Grandma in reindeer ears, looking cool
Grandad under the mistletoe – and there’s no queue
And by the Christmas pudding Michele was singing out of tone
Crackers were pulled with a deafening snap
And suddenly everyone was wearing a hat
Uncle Ted got a crown, but it slipped onto his nose
While mine had me looking like a drunken gnome
By the end of the night, we were a sight to behold
We were red faced and stuffed and wanting our beds
Yet, amidst all the chaos, there’s love – oh yes it’s true
For even with Christmas excess love is always the glue.
