The Wonders of Leisure

No morning rush, no watching the clock
No crowded trains, no traffic jams
Now, days belong to you to spend as you will
To sit back, relax, take stock

So, find a quiet country road
Springs is approaching in the fields
And the country pub is warm and bright
It’s time to stop, relax, unload

Inside the log fire’s flame
Dances and flickers to an unknown tune
Find a sofa, time to stop and sit
And be glad you no longer have to play the game

A glass of red, a mouthful of pleasure
On the table a solitary candle flickers
You sit quietly, enjoying the moment
Reflecting on the wonders of leisure

You sit by the log fire, your heart is free
Remembering the past with a little affection
But you look to new days that all yours
And it is time to create a new memory.
