Autumn is at our door
Now a chill in the evening air
Nights now darker than before
As the wind bites at our heels
The sun no longer burns bright
Golden rays start to fade
We see a new, a different light
And no more dancing in the rain
Green leaves are turning red
Slowly welcoming Autumn
They will soon fall joining the dead
Till Spring comes round again
Coats are emerging from sleep
Scarves and gloves are being found
Cold will soon settle in bitter and deep
Summer sounds will soon cease
As the dying summer breeze gives a quiet sigh
Saying goodbye, softly but unrelenting
We stand and watch blue slip from the sky
And we grieve as another summer ends.
