Once the cottage stood in the forest
A refuge for all workers on a winter’s day
While the northern winds blew, the log fire
Kept the winter demons away
As the seasons and years moved forward
Around the cottage a village formed
A community of those who worked the fields
And gradually the cottage was transformed
No longer a refuge, but a home
Children raised in a community who loved the land
A place where they were wild and free
In a village where all lent a hand
Now, times have changed, the cottage is adorned with flowers
Love is still in this magical place, just open the door
History is there, in every timber, every brick
But the world has moved, and the village is no more.
