The snow is going, the cold retreats
The air is softer, the frost is gone
And the rain falls with a steady grace
Cleaning the earth, washing its face
The gardens reappear, a quiet cheer
Pavements again safe to walk on
Yet in this day, as the world renews
I wonder – do we approve?
Do we rejoice or hardly notice
At the changes happening all around
Do we accept the rainy skies
Or wish for winter’s old disguise
The rain continues to fall, marking a new start
Of days of rain and gales – of the coming of storm Bert
So, I wonder, as we stand
Do we approve of the world at hand.
