I look to the past, to build my future
Mistakes I have made, loves I have lost
At times I have counter the cost
Yet I also remember the joys
Days of laughter and fun
Making friends, losing friends
Why didn’t some last, why did they end
I turn to the past for an answer
Yet it’s often said never look back
Really! Can we learn without the past
Time slips away without us knowing, so fast
