(dedicated to all who work in Stopsley High School)
Come back early they say
Learn how to teach in the new normal
How to be strong, determined and bold is the new task
Personally, I preferred the old normal
Risk Assessments are the new read
Forget Crisham, Child and Hemingway
But some of the words do make my eyes bleed
What you have to read to earn your pay
One cup, one toilet, one room
Don’t stray into a different bubble
But we must till help pupils bloom
while working hard to avoid trouble
But school staff are resilient
Government flip and flop
But school staff continue to be brilliant
Government utterances just need to stop
New rules for pupils
Face masks for some, not for others
Wristbands in a variety of colours
Enter this way, exit that way
But school staff will rise to the challenge
Their mission is easy – pupils future
They will work through Covids damage
and are practiced in applying a suture
Covid will not diminish their belief
School staff will adapt and lead
But at the end of a day there will be relief
that they can go home and have a glass of mead.
