Last Words

I remember our last words
They are with me at the dawn
And again, as the night draws in
They are all I hear now you are gone

I remember days of love and fun
Kicking the waves by the sea
Skimming stones on the lake
And kissing under the oak tree

I remember how hearts moved apart
That tears replaced love
Last words that hung in the air
And enveloped us like a glove

I remember, but wish I could forget
How memories are stones round my heart
Holding me from moving on
As our last words will always keep us apart.
