September Moon

Beneath the September moon’s soft glow
The market town turned to sleep
Cheshire Street where people meet and stories flow
Is empty and quiet, awaiting the dawn

Beneath the September moon’s soft light
The church bell chimes a gentle sound
Saying rest easy all is right
With the town’s life and time

Beneath the September moon’s soft gleam
The town recalls the past
And as lights dim it is time to dream
Of a new and better tomorrow.
