Obviously, a winner in any competition
So, tart it up, get the commas right
And let my poem take flight
Enter it in this one, and that one
Confident of success, obviously
How can this work of genius be ignored
The words just flowed, any reader can’t be bored
But then, an email pops up
Yes, very polite that’s nice but
Sorry good try but not for us
What do I do. Can’t really make a fuss
So, just apply myself to another work of wonder
This one will be it. I just know it
I can feel it flowing onto the paper
But then, I wonder, is entering competitions just a mad caper?
